A New Standard in
Firearm Storage Security

The WhiteWood Innovations Firearm Locking System is a patented safety device that secures magazine-fed rifles and handguns by locking them to a fixed surface — rendering them completely inoperable when not in use, while keeping them instantly accessible to the authorized owner.

It combines a specially designed Locking Magazine (LM) with a heavy-duty Locking Magazine Base (LMB) and a high-security padlock to block the firearm's chamber and prevent unauthorized removal. Even if the padlock is removed, the firearm remains inoperable without the proprietary Locking Magazine.

Designed for both residential and commercial environments, the system mounts to wall studs, display cases, vehicle interiors, safe interiors, and bedside furniture — anywhere a firearm needs to be secured but rapidly deployable.

Protected by U.S. Patent #11,971,232 & #11,906,258 — ready for licensing, co-development, or OEM manufacturing partnerships.

Truly Inoperable

When locked, the firearm cannot be loaded, fired, or removed — even if taken off the wall.

Ready Access

Unlock and deploy in under 15 seconds — no combinations, no biometric delays.

Visually Verifiable

Locked status is immediately visible — critical for households, retail, and professional environments.

Modular & Flexible

Mounts to any wall stud, safe interior, or bedside furniture. Compatible with rifles and handguns.

How the Firearm Locking System Works

Two precision components work together to deliver both security and fast access.

Locking Magazine positioned at AR-15 magazine well Step 1: LM ready to insert
Pivoting rod enters barrel chamber Step 2: Rod enters barrel
Locking Magazine mated with base Step 3: Mated with LMB
AR-15 fully locked and secured Step 4: Padlocked & secured

Watch: Applying and removing the Firearm Locking System on an AR-15

Locking Magazine (LM)

  • Magazine-shaped body inserts into the firearm's magazine well — exactly like a standard magazine
  • Houses a centrally-pivoting Pivoting Locking Rod (PLR) of hardened aluminum
  • PLR extends into the barrel and chamber — preventing loading and firing
  • Base end has a round eye-bolt opening that engages with the Locking Magazine Base
  • Even when unmounted from the wall, the firearm remains inoperable

Locking Magazine Base (LMB)

  • Heavy-duty steel plate bolted to a wall stud, structural framing, safe interior, or bedside furniture
  • Receives and locks the base end of the Locking Magazine via a high-security shrouded padlock
  • When the LM is seated and locked, the firearm is fixed in place and inoperable
  • Creates a rigid, highly visible barrier against theft, accidents, and unauthorized access

A Growing Legal Mandate

Safe firearm storage is becoming the law. The SECURE Firearm Storage Act (S.246) was introduced in the U.S. Senate in 2023. The U.S. Department of Justice released model safe storage legislation for states in December 2023. The White House launched a formal safe storage initiative in January 2024. The trend is clear — states are tightening requirements and the market for compliant, effective firearm storage solutions is expanding rapidly.

The WhiteWood Innovations Firearm Locking System is purpose-built for exactly this environment: mechanical, tamper-resistant, and compliant — without sacrificing fast authorized access.

The Firearm Locking System fills a real gap in the current market. Existing solutions — gun safes, cable locks, trigger locks, and mag well locks — each address part of the problem. None combine physical immobilization, chamber blocking, surface mounting, and instant authorized access in a single, simple device.

The invention is patent-protected and ready for licensing, co-development, or OEM manufacturing partnerships. The inventor is actively seeking firearms manufacturers, safety product companies, and distributors to bring this system to retail and professional markets.

Target Applications

  • Home defense storage — bedside or closet mounting for rapid deployment
  • Retail & showroom displays — secures display firearms while keeping them accessible
  • Gun safe interiors — modular accessory for organizing and securing firearms
  • Law enforcement & security — vehicle-mounted or room-mounted storage
  • Child-access prevention — strong physical immobilization for households with children

The Story Behind the System

Dr. Claude L. Woodard Jr., inventor of the WhiteWood Innovations Firearm Locking System
Dr. Claude L. Woodard Jr. DVM  ·  LTC, U.S. Army (Retired)

Dr. Claude Woodard is a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, and Diplomate of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine. His military career spanned chemical defense research, laboratory medicine, and operations including Desert Shield — earning him the Meritorious Service Medal with three Oak-Leaf Clusters and numerous other honors.

He is also a lifelong firearm owner by heritage, having inherited a small, treasured collection from his father and uncle. When the Woodards relocated after retirement, their new home was burglarized while unoccupied — and most of that collection was stolen.

That loss drove him to develop a better solution. After studying every firearm security product on the market and finding them all too easy to defeat, he set out to build a system that a common burglar simply could not walk away with — one that would require time and specialized equipment to defeat, making theft impractical rather than just inconvenient.

The result is the WhiteWood Innovations Firearm Locking System — two U.S. patents protecting a product born from personal experience and a career built on solving hard problems.

Common Questions

About the Product

It is a patented two-component safety device that secures magazine-fed rifles and handguns to a fixed surface, rendering them completely inoperable when not in use — while keeping them instantly accessible to the authorized owner in seconds.

Yes. Even if someone removes the firearm from the wall mounting, the Locking Magazine remains in the magazine well with the rod occupying the barrel and chamber — the firearm cannot be loaded or fired without first removing the Locking Magazine, which requires the padlock key.

Under 15 seconds from locked to fully operational — faster than accessing most gun safes.

The Locking Magazine Base is bolted to a wall stud, structural framing, bedside furniture, or safe interior — but the firearm itself is never permanently attached and can be removed by the authorized owner in seconds.

Safety & Security

The system uses a high-security shrouded padlock that is extremely difficult to cut — the shackle is protected on all sides, particularly when mounted to a wall stud behind drywall. Even if the padlock were removed, the Locking Magazine would remain seated with the rod occupying the barrel, keeping the firearm inoperable. Forcibly prying the firearm free would cause significant damage to the firearm before the locking system could be defeated.

No. When properly locked, the firearm is both physically secured to the mounting surface and mechanically inoperable. The system satisfies child access prevention (CAP) requirements in states with safe storage laws.

No. The Locking Magazine inserts and removes exactly like a standard magazine, with no permanent modification to the firearm.

Compatibility

Two systems are currently available:

  • AR-15 System — fits all rifles built on a standard AR-15 lower, regardless of manufacturer or caliber (5.56/.223, .300 Blackout, 6.5 Grendel, 6mm ARC, 7.62×39, .350 Legend, .450 Bushmaster, .458 SOCOM, .50 Beowulf, and more). This covers an estimated 20–30 million rifles in the U.S.
  • Glock-Type System — fits all full-size Glocks accepting the standard Glock magazine (Glock 17, 19, 45, 47, 34, and others in 9mm, .40, .45, and 10mm).

The system's design can be adapted for virtually any magazine-fed firearm — including the SIG P320, Beretta 92/M9, 1911/2011 platforms, AK-pattern rifles, FN SCAR, and many others. Each platform requires a purpose-built Locking Magazine sized for that firearm's magazine well.

Licensing & Availability

A working prototype has been developed and is featured in the demonstration videos on this website. The system is not yet available for retail purchase — it is currently being offered for licensing and manufacturing partnerships. Contact the inventor to discuss bringing it to market.

The target retail price is $160 per unit. Final pricing may vary depending on the manufacturing partner and distribution channel. Manufacturing cost target is $50 per unit, with a wholesale price of $120.
